Uses and Benefits of Face Primer

Definition of a Primer

A primer is the most important part of our make-up process because it seals imperfections giving you a flawless finish thus preventing the foundation from looking cakey. There are different kinds of cosmetic primers such as foundation primer, eyelid primer, lip primer, and mascara primer.

Benefits of a Face Primer

  • Face primer corrects and evens out the skin tone.
  • face primer reduces marks and wrinkles.
  • Face primer enables your make-up to stay and lasts longer.
  • Your make-up will not smear or melt off when you sweat since the primer acts as glue.
  • Face primer temporarily removes dark spots and blemishes.
  • Eye primer may reduce oiliness, add shimmer, and mattify.
  • Eye primer aids with the smooth application of the eye shadow.
  • Eye primer prevents the eye shadow from accumulating in eyelid creases, and improves its longevity.

What a Face Primer is Made out of

  • Face primers are water-based, silicon-based, or mineral-based.
  • Some primers are fragranced, have SPF, and have color to improve skin tone.
  • Lip primers smooth out the lips thus improving the application of lipstick and color.
  • Most face primers contain silicon which acts as some sort of glue or adhesive.
  • The silicon fills in the pores and the lines making the foundation to be perfectly smooth and sticking on for long hours.

How to Use a Face Primer

  •  Apply your face primer 5 minutes after moisturizing your face.
  •  Apply gently to the skin, paying attention to the under-eye area.
  •  Then apply your concealer, foundation, face powder, and blush.

I would recommend the below face primers. They are affordable and of good quality.

1.   Smashbox Photo Finish Targeted Pore and Line Primer.

This primer is good for oily skin as it provides a matte finish. It costs about $34.

2.   The Mac Face Prep Primer which is available online at Amazon.com at $38.00. It will be worth your penny.

3.   My third recommendation is Laura Mercier Face Primer which is also available online at Amazon.com and costs $35.00.

Just make sure your face is thoroughly washed before and after primer and make-up applications.

How to Make Your Eye Lashes Grow: 6 Natural Ways

I have a friend who got tired of going to spas and paying lots of bucks for thickening and growing her own eyelashes so I decided to research for her. “Guess what?  I found out that you can use ingredients that you already have in your own house to make your eyelashes grow thick and long “I told her. Below are ways to make your eyelashes grow long.

1. Brush your Eyelashes

Make sure you brush your eyelashes daily with an eyelash comb or clean mascara brush.

2. Use vitamin E

Use vitamin E oil whilst brushing your eyelashes. Put a couple of vitamin E drops on your brush to stimulate growth and at the same time make your lashes soft and thick.

3. Use Olive Oil

Olive oil strengthens and catalyzes hair growth. Make sure you put a few drops of olive oil onto a cotton ball and apply it to your lashes. Leave on for a few minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. For good results, continue this daily for about a month.

4. Use Vaseline

I have never tried this but some people think Vaseline is good for hair and eyelash growth.

5. Make Your Own Eye Brow and Lashes Serum

Ingredients

2 T of Castor Oil
2 T of Coconut Oil
2 T of Sweet Almond Oil
1 t of Avocado Oil
1 Capsule of Vitamin E

Method

Take equal parts (2 T) of castor oil, coconut oil, and sweet almond oil.
Pour into a small container.
Add 1 t of avocado oil
Add 1 capsule of vitamin E into the mixture.
Shake well and mix.
Take a clean mascara brush or wand or Q tip and dip it into the mixture.
Gently apply on your eyelashes and brows.

Continue doing this for about 2 weeks and you will see results. Your eyebrows will be stronger, longer, and healthier. The avocado oil and vitamin E capsule part is optional.

6. Use Supplements

Add the following to your lifestyle:

Vitamin H

Vitamin H catalyzes hair growth and helps strengthen the hair. It can be found in fish, almonds, bananas, whole grains, egg yolk, etc.

Antioxidants (Vitamin C and E)

Vitamins C and E, play a huge role in hair growth and development. They are found in citrus fruits, avocados, leafy green vegetables, etc.

How to Get Rid of Stretch marks: 8 Home Remedies

What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks usually appear  when a person grows up or gains weight rather quickly or when the skin gets pulled or stretched. It could be during puberty or pregnancy or just when gaining weight. That person may get fine lines or stripes on the body. This normally happens on the abdomen, breast, buttocks, hips, etc.

What Causes Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks are normally caused when your skin promptly stretches or shrinks. This will cause the elastin and collagen in your skin to break. Elastin’s main allows your skin to stretch and collagen  provides structure, strength, and support to your skin.

Fortunately for all of us, there are some things you can do to get rid of stretch marks and prevent stretch marks, as well as reduce them. So check these options out and choose the one that suits you best.

  • Apply fresh lemon juice to the affected area.
  • Massage softly.
  • Let it dry off for a few minutes.
  • Rub off with warm water.
  • The acid in the juice acts as a catalyst to reduce stretch marks.
