6 Skin Benefits of Glycerin

Glycerin is a colorless organic compound formed of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. Glycerin is water soluble. It tastes very sweet.Glycerin’s main uses are for the skin care products as it can stimulate and rejuvenate it. Most skin products such as soaps, moisturizers, lotions and hair products such as shampoos and conditioners contain glycerin. Below are a few skin uses of glycerin;

1.    Glycerin can be used as skin moisturizer

If you take a spoon of glycerin and add it to a few drops of water then apply to your face daily before sleep, your skin will be moisturized and softened. When glycerin is applied to the skin, it seals in moisture that might escape and helps maintain the skin's water.

2.    Anti aging products

Take an egg white and beat it until frothy. Add a teaspoon of honey and glycerin . Mix well and apply to your face in circular motion. Leave for 15 minutes and wash off with warm water.

3.    Treatment of dry skin

Glycerin helps skin to look less scaly and glowier and healthier. Glycerin has a therapeutic effect on wounds and other skin diseases thus topping up on making the skin look smoother, supple, soft and healthier.

4.    Treatment of acne

Apply glycerin directly on acne, pimples and mouth ulcers. It can cure them. It can also be applied to scars.

5.    Make face cleanser

Add 4 spoons of milk with 1 spoon of glycerin. Apply to your face with a cotton wool.  Leave it on for 15 minutes or even overnight.

6.    Moisturizes nails

After removing your nail polish or nails, apply a little bit of glycerin on your nails to keep them soft.

How to Create Nail Art Designs at Home

There are different kinds of nail art. A lot of them are easy to make at home.I have a few methods below.

  • File the nails to any shape and size you would like.
  • Apply the base coat.
  • Dip a toothpick in a blue nail polish and make a tiny circle or dot at the center of your nail to create the center of the flower. You can buy special brushes or nail art polish at your local grocery, beauty store or online at, and use those instead of a tooth pick.
  • Dip another toothpick in the red nail polish to make 3 larger ovals for petals. Start drawing them from the dot up toward the edges of your nails. Make sure you make 3 bigger petals.
  • You can add glitter nail polish as a top coat if you wish or put a glittery stud on the circle at the center.
  • Leave to dry and apply a top and last coat to your  nails to keep them shiny and protected.

I will be back soon with more.

Things You'll Need

White nail polish
Clear or pink top coat
Square-shaped stickers with straight edge

1.    Cut and trim your nails to a desired length. Make them a little of both square and oval shape.
2.    Take a flat edged sticker or scotch tape or a strip and place over your nail. It should be placed at the curve leaving the rest of the nail that would be painted pink or nude or clear. Make sure its tight enough so that the nail polish doesn’t bleed.
3.    Apply white nail polish to  the tip of your nail, above the sticker. The sticker, scotch tape or strip is for protecting the paint-free nail areas.
4.    Let the nail polish dry. Wait for a couple of minutes and then slowly and carefully remover the sticker or scotch tape or strip.
5.    Continue the same process with the other 9 fingers until all the tips of the 10 fingers are nicely and professionally done.
6.    Let them dry completely for about 5 minutes.
7.    Now it’s time to apply the clear or nude or very light pink which is the top coat.

After letting all the 10 fingers dry then clean up excess unwanted paint.
